Description

With an investment of US$206 million, construction of Velardeña began in 2010 and was concluded at the end of 2012. With commercial operations launched in May 2013, the mining unit has achieved very satisfactory output, in fact, surpassing its original design capacity, which was expanded in a two-stage optimization project performed in 2018 and 2019.

The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art sustainable technology, including solar panels, LED lighting, water treatment plants and a dome to store the stockpile from the mine.
Thanks to the output of this mine, Durango ranks among the top three zinc-producing states in Mexico.
